Interesting how a post to this BLOG, without my even realizing the significance of this cliché, makes reference to ejecting one's self from slow-moving helicopter or parachuting from a plane, not to mention other reported sources for this figure of speech. The former capital of South Vietnam, Saigon, was officially renamed Ho Chí Minh City on 1 May 1975 shortly after its capture by the North which officially ended the war.
